Stephen had been a truck driver for years and had never taken time off work. When he began experiencing severe back pain, he tried to push through it, but the pain soon became unbearable. He found himself unable to work, unable to walk properly, and even unable to bend down to put on his socks. Eventually, he was admitted to hospital for weeks of tests and scans.
Although his employer was understanding and provided sick pay, Stephen was struggling. Being confined to bed and unable to work took a heavy toll on him. It was at this point that someone recommended he contact RCS.
Stephen registered with the In Work Support Service and was given an assessment straight away. He was reassured that they could help and was referred for six sessions of physiotherapy. The therapist worked on his muscles and mobility, and within a month Stephen was able to return to work.
He has since made changes to how he lifts and moves at work, and he continues to keep up with stretches and exercises at home. He even makes time for a long soak in the bath to help his muscles recover.
I would 100% urge anyone in a similar situation to me to get in touch with RCS. I probably wouldn’t be back in work now if it hadn’t been for their help.
