In 2010, RCS set up a new training restaurant on Rhyl Promenade, the Taste Academy, to give unemployed people the chance to gain skills and work experience in a real work environment. Taste Academy was established as a social enterprise, with all profits from its commercial activities put into providing support, training and mentoring for staff, trainees and volunteers. From 2010 to 2015, over 200 people with barriers to employment took part in learning and work activities at Taste’s inspirational and unique premises. Over 40 of our participants were enabled to progress into permanent employment. Taste was supported by Welsh Government and by the European Regional Development Fund through Cyfenter.
