Deirdre reached out to RCS after experiencing hip and knee pain that made working from home increasingly uncomfortable. Spending long hours at her desk had worsened the pain to the point where she had to cut back on her workload, which affected her income. It also disrupted her sleep and prevented her from walking — something she relied on to support her mental wellbeing.
Through the In Work Support Service, Deirdre was referred for six free physiotherapy sessions. These included magnetotherapy, soft-tissue work, joint mobilisations, posture advice, and exercises to complete at home. The sessions made a significant difference, and by the end, both she and her therapist agreed her mobility had improved by around 80%.
I feel much more confident in my mobility now, I’m more positive in myself, and I’ve been able to take on more work again. The support made a real difference to both my physical health and my wellbeing.
